InnoCore’s injectable in situ forming depot drug depot technology offers a highly versatile and patient-friendly approach to sustained drug delivery.
Using our SynBiosys® bioresorbable polymers, these depots are formed by simply mixing our polymer with an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and a pharmaceutically accepted co-solvent to create a low viscous injectable liquid formulation. Upon injection into soft tissue, the liquid rapidly forms a soft, macroscopic depot that physically entraps the drug. The in situ formed depot gradually erodes at the same rate as the active diffuses from the depot, ensuring a smooth, predictable therapeutic profile over time.
Due to the low-viscosity properties, in situ forming depots are easy to administer with thin needles or catheters. They can be precisely delivered to a variety of target sites enabling both localized and targeted systemic delivery. Depot formation occurs instantly, and drug release is synchronized with gradual “outside-in” erosion of the polymer matrix.
The release rate can be tuned to the needs of a specific therapeutic application by adjusting the molecular structure of the used polymers. All polymers are based on well-known, safe-to-use building blocks approved for use in both human and veterinary medicine and also allows for the incorporation of sensitive peptides and biologics without compromising their integrity.
