InnoCore’s injectable drug depot technology harnesses the benefits of bioabsorbable polymers to create targeted, long-acting treatments. Our platform uses water-borne polymers that can be easily mixed with active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) or other therapeutic actives to form a hydrogel. Once injected into soft tissue, the polymer quickly forms a soft, macroscopic depot that physically entraps the API. The gel erodes gradually at the same rate as the drug’s release, ensuring smooth, predictable, and sustained delivery.
For APIs that are unstable in aqueous solutions or diffuse too rapidly through hydrogels, we have developed a 100% pure, water-free gel formulation. This alternative maintains the stability of sensitive actives and enables precise control over release kinetics.
The gels’ low viscosity allows for easy administration through thin needles or catheters, enabling delivery to precise anatomical sites such as the eyes, brain, joints, muscles, and other organs. Depot formation occurs instantaneously, while drug release coincides with gradual “outside-in” erosion of the depot. This ensures sustained therapeutic levels while minimizing systemic exposure and associated side effects.
